The Gocongo Foundation is committed to improving the general health of the communities in which we work by running a small health centre which raises awareness of health issues within socially and economically disadvantaged rural communities. We are engaged in raising awareness of diseases and their prevention through basic public health measures and we do this through the use of various materials, by working with local nurses and health centers, and in collaboration with other organizations in the area.

We also organize family health care training courses, utilizing locally relevant educational material, accessible to all, regardless of their educational background. These courses address basic topics of health and hygiene and use a variety of participatory methods, images and stories that enhance the understanding of the participants. Moreover, we set up a health centre for basic health care for the children of the school, and we engage with the students’ parents in raising awareness about the importance of vaccinations, general nutrition, hygiene and health care.
